A Day of Reflection and Gratitude: Embracing Culture at Grace Romanian Pentecostal Church

Today was a day that will forever hold a special place in my heart. As an honored guest at Grace Romanian Pentecostal Church, I was privileged to experience a profound moment during the sermon, delivered in Romanian. With the aid of a translation device, I became aware of a powerful request: “We ask that you do not applaud when our choir is done singing. In the country we came from (Romania), our dictators used to MAKE us applaud when they gave their speeches.”

This simple statement resonated deeply, serving as a stark reminder of the freedom we enjoy in our country. It made me appreciate the liberty to express ourselves without fear, a privilege that we must cherish and protect through our democratic right to vote.

The hospitality extended by the community was nothing short of extraordinary. Following the three-hour service, we gathered for a traditional Romanian meal, breaking bread together. The warmth, hearts, and generosity of the congregation left an indelible mark on my spirit.

In the fellowship, I couldn’t help but reflect on the beauty of cultural diversity. Engaging with different traditions, languages, and perspectives is a powerful reminder of the richness that comes from unity in diversity.

As we shared this traditional Romanian meal, I realized how these shared moments can bridge gaps, fostering understanding and appreciation for one another. It was a celebration of cultural exchange, reminding me of the importance of embracing diversity and learning from each other.

I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to be part of this unique experience. The message of the day goes beyond cultural differences; it’s about unity, gratitude, and the shared humanity that binds us all.
