Greetings, I'm Landon McCarter, and I'm excited to announce my candidacy for the Springfield Public School Board. As a parent with three children attending SPS schools, I'm deeply invested in the betterment and success of our educational system.
My children attend various grade levels within the district, each contributing uniquely to our school community. Their experiences within SPS inspire my commitment to fostering a success focused, nurturing, and successful learning environment focused on academic excellence for every student.
My dedication extends beyond my family to ensuring that every child in Springfield receives an excellent education. Together, let’s work towards building a brighter future for our students and our community through our schools.
My journey in Springfield extends beyond education and sports—it's deeply rooted in community building and entrepreneurship. Throughout my professional trajectory, I've had the privilege of employing hundreds of individuals, contributing to the livelihoods of families in our community. This experience has granted me insights into the diverse needs and aspirations of our workforce.

Elevating MSU Marketing: Advisory Board Leadership
I currently sit on the Missouri State University Marketing Department Advisory Board, a key body within the university's esteemed marketing department. Collaborating alongside eminent city leaders such as O'Reilly Auto Parts, Andy's Frozen Custard, and other influential marketing luminaries in Springfield, our board convenes regularly with the leadership of Missouri State University's Marketing Department. Our collective aim is to offer invaluable insights, strategic guidance, and industry expertise to shape the department's trajectory and evolution. Through these engagements, I play a pivotal role in fostering a dynamic academic environment, ensuring that MSU's Marketing Department remains at the forefront of innovative educational practices.
Rich Legacy In Springfield Public Schools
The McCarter family has deep roots in Springfield. My father, Larry McCarter, dedicated 30 years to teaching math in SPS schools, impacting countless students with his ability to simplify algebra. His students, now professionals, credit him for their success in math-related careers.
My mother, Connie McCarter, served as an instructional assistant for 14 years in various SPS schools and taught swimming lessons for decades, touching many lives in south Springfield.
While I’m not called to teach, I’m committed to running for the school board. It’s my way of continuing the McCarter legacy by supporting the youth of our community and ensuring they receive the best education possible for their futures.
Springfield is our cherished home, and the school system is integral. I’m driven to give back to the community that has given my family so much.
Youth Basketball Coach
For the past nine years, coaching youth basketball has been a significant passion of mine. I've dedicated my time to coaching not only my children's teams but also teams where my children weren't players. Witnessing these young athletes thrive and succeed on the basketball court brings me immense joy. It's more than a hobby; it's a commitment to nurturing and empowering these children to reach their full potential in sports and beyond.
